Part A (2012.07.09)

There is actually a famous martial artist/aerialist in California. I ran across her when I was google searching photos for these scenes. I was momentarily sad that this wasn't such a novel idea, and then relieved that I had imagined something that was so wholly probable as to be true.

Also, <3 to my sister, famous writer Mette Ivie Harrison, who visited this weekend and distracted me from the impending SDCC panic. I recommend her Princess and the Bear. ^^

Part B (2012.07.16)

I think this bike panel is my favorite in the whole comic. I am terribly proud of the splash on pp16-17, sure, but the lighting, the pose, the ease at which this one panel just happened… it was wonderful. I hope it happens again. :)

That bike shot is worth a million other shots combined. I know how freakishly hard it is to draw those things. You astound me.

People say that about bikes. I dunno, maybe it's because I know so many people who race them, but they seem pretty straight-forward to me. Feet, they are impossible. Shoes, even more so. How do people learn how to draw them? And noses. The holes in noses in particular. Never been able to draw those properly. You know how people have those meme posters of all their artistic inspirations? I need to start a meme: all the things I can't draw. And provide evidence proving how bad I am at drawing them. LOL.

Well, if I did that meme, it would stretch on and on and on, like some of those continuous-page comics.

So who is the famous martial artist/aerialist??

I'm super excited - a friend of mine who takes pole dancing and aerial silks classes just got me a deal to go to one month of unlimited silks classes at her school for a really good price. It'll just be for the month, not something I can continue, but I am going to go to as many classes as I can during that time, and learn as much as I can about something I've wanted to try for so long!

So... I will have my kung fu, and at least the experience of gaining a little bit of knowledge and training in silks! I do not expect to be any kind of famous martial artist or aerialist though! :P
