I think the hunter is very strict with his dogs. Like, he never plays with them. Not that he doesn't love his puppies, but when you consider his situation, it is very likely that a misbehaving dog would attract the Queen's wrath. So I think his letting them play with Holly is a sweet gesture. Like he is saying, oh sure, teach them all sorts of bad habits. I'll just go over here and look the other way. <3
Alas, I have never met anyone who felt this way about their children. If your response to that last statement is, "Well sure, children are too *important*!" or something of the sort, then YOU are the reason I just completely avoid interacting with kids now. Assigning them more fragility than a Ming vase kinda reduces their appeal to other adults.
From the artistic front, I really like this page. I didn't design it for unity, so there's no central panel or dramatic overflow like some of the previous pages, but the layout and the images really appeal to me. This is my take on the Hellboy page style, where everything sits obediently inside its box and doesn't play tricks. I prefer it to the more adventurous kind I've been dabbling in lately, and not just because it is easier. There is something restful and elegant about it.
I'm quite late on saying anything at all on your comic pages, though I did from time to time comment on the site...
I just wanted to tell you I always stare dreamily at these pages, and for some reason I really do like this one a lot. The expressiveness of the positions you've got Holly in just says a lot about her, from the range of illness, to utter hopelessness to the joy she gets when she sees the Cwn Annwn.
Then there's your silhouetting and your detail and you just...GAH I CAN'T EVEN. So wonderful.
Actually, I think he kinda took over Book 3. I'm feeling bad that Lucky and Anna have so little to do, what with all the screen time Queenie and Kernan get!
And suddenly... puppies! I think the hunter is kind of jealous of Holly's freedom to just be herself and enjoy a happy moment now and then. Not envious, just wistfully jealous.

I thought that that first dog was like, a magical faerie deer, and then I was like, oh~
Oh yay! Doggies!
